WELCOME TO LAMARA ESTATE
Lamara forms part of Two Rivers, a historic farmland in the Dwars River Valley gateway into Franschhoek with its heritage dating back to the 1850’s.
Today it boasts a variety of seasonal crops, including Olives, Lemons, Lavender and Rosemary.
WHAT WE DO
EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL
The farm has 12 hectare olives with cultivars Lecino, Frantoio, Mission and Coratina for the olive oil production.
Our olives are hand-picked at optimal ripeness and the oil extracted cold to achieve extra virgin quality. Our extra virgin olive oil (EVOO) is a blend of the 4 cultivars. Tasting notes are fresh and fruity on the nose with hints of apple and artichoke. The rich mouthfeel is well balanced with a tingling pepper and a pleasant bitterness.
LEMONS
The production area of the farm consists out of 20 hectares of Eureka Lemons for the global export markets.
The orchard consists of mature trees, with our own first addition of young lemon trees in 2018. Harvest time for the lemons is from middle April to middle August.
LAVENDER AND ROSEMARY
We have planted over 2 hectares of lavender and 7 hectares of rosemary.
Our approach is to farm and process organically, biological and natural. The coming years we will develop a multitude of products based on the oils of the lavender and rosemary.
POMEGRANATES
One of our recent additions to the farm is pomegranates. It is a delicious fruit with loads of health benefits which we produce for the local market.
